Pre-Conference Hands-On Workshop

The two day pre-conference hands-on workshop is designed for   (1) those who are novices in the technique of plastination (2) those who would like to familiarize themselves more with the basic principles of plastination (3) those who would like to receive close direction in the implementation of these principles and establish a laboratory of Plastination.

Workshop will be taught and supervised by Prof. Rafael Latorre Reviriego. University of Murcia, Spain; Prof. Constantin Sora. Medical University of Vienna, Austria and A/Prof. Carlos Baptista. University of Toledo, USA.

Workshop Fee

RMB1900/person (The exchange rates for your reference: USD1.00 about RMB6.30, EUR1.00 about RMB8.33. Please visit "BOC Exchange Rate" for the latest exchange rate between the Chinese RMB and other currencies.)

The fee includes Workshop Kit, Working Lunch, Dinner, etc.

Workshop Reservation

  1. Please reserve the Workshop via On-line Registration System in advance.

  2. Due to the restriction of participants' numbers (40 persons), the reservation of Workshop will be accepted on a 1st come 1st served basis.

1. STATION A:  S-10 Technique: Fixation and dehydration.

    1. Tutorial - Basic equipment and solutions for dehydration.
    2. Hands on 1-  how to prepare a specimen for plastination.
    3. Hands on 2 - how to plastinate a hollow organ.
    4. Hands on 3 – how to control dehydration procedure.
    5. Tutorial - Defatting during dehydration and acetone recycling.

2. STATION B:  S-10 Technique: Polymer Impregnation

    1. Tutorial - Basic equipment and solutions for S10 impregnation
    2. Hands on 1 – how to set up the impregnation unit.
    3. Demonstration - how to manage the impregnation procedure.
    4. Hands on 2 – how to prepare a dehydrated specimen for impregnation.
    5. Hands on 3 – how to finish the impregnation.

3. STATION C:  S-10 Technique: Polymerization

    1. Tutorial - Basic equipment and hardener for S10 polymerization.
    2. Tutorial - Conditions to cure the specimen.
    3. Hands on 1 - How to finalize the impregnated specimen.
    4. Hands on 2 – how to do a slow curing procedure.
    5. Hands on 3 – how to control the S6 time exposition:
    6. Hands on 4 – how to finish a cured specimen.

    3. Hands on 2 – how to set up sections for dehydration.
    4. Hands on 3 – how to manage the dehydration procedure.
    5. Hands on 4 – how to manage the defatting procedure.

2. STATION B:  Epoxy Technique: Polymer Impregnation

    1. Tutorial - Basic equipment and solutions for epoxy impregnation.
    2. Hands on 1 – how to set up an impregnation unit.
    3. Hands 2 – how to control the impregnation procedure.
    4. Hands on 3 – how to finish the impregnation.
    5. Demonstration – Ultrathin epoxy sheet technique.

 

3. STATION C:  Epoxy Technique: Polymerization and casting

    1. Tutorial - Basic equipment and solutions for epoxy impregnation.
    2. Hands on 1 – how to cast an impregnated slice.
    3. Hands on 2 – how to finish the cured specimen.
    4. Demonstration – how to collect data from the plastinated slice.
